dreams

i am sitting in science and was just talking to lauren about my amateur surfing skills when i remembered a dream i had one night. it's one of those dreams i can't fully remember but i do recall it had something to do with surfing. in the dream i was out in the ocean waiting for a good set. just sitting on my board like i would usually. that's why i get confused between reality and dreams. they're hard to tell the difference between. so anyway, i was sitting on my board when this huge set of waves came in. naturally i paddled to catch one. i was riding across the wave and in the dream my board turned into a dolphin. it felt so real but i woke up at the same time i wiped out.

some random facts in science

i'm sitting in science and i'm sure i should be doing some kind of scientific work but instead i'm blogging.
in my intense state of boredom i decided to learn some random facts that no one would actually care about.. some are;
1.rubber bands last longer when refrigerated
2.there are more chickens than there are human in the world.
3.a cat has 32 muscles in each ear.
4.a dragonfly has a lifespan of 1-6 months.
5.a polar bear's skin is black. it's fur is not white, but actually clear.
6.a snail can sleep for 3 years.
7.walt disney, the creator of mickey mouse, was afraid of mice.
8.in the average lifetime, a person will walk the equivalent of 5 times around the equator.
9.elephants can't jump.
10.pearls melt in vinegar.

now you are 10 random facts smarter.

school school school

back to school soon!
a whole week and i'll be back in class rooms, trying to pay attention while my mind wanders elsewhere..mostly to days outside the class room...the next set of holidays.
to sum up my holidays i'd use one word; average.. there hasn't really been much excitement or adventure.. i did have an awesome weekend of surfing at a local spot, that is a bit of a drive away for me, and spent my hours off the board climbing over the rock formations like i'd done so many times before.. but other than that weekend, i've mainly worked and hung out at a more easliy accessible beach.
so maybe my holidays weren't just average..they were quite lovely. i do adore the beach so being able to spend so much time there was nice.
o well. holidays are basically over for me because i'm working almost every day up to school but hey that's more money for me :)
have a good one.

water logged

i've checked out the beach a few times during my holidays. even though the weather isn't quite warm enough to swim in, i do anyway :)
but the last time i was at the beach, i was innocently running along the shore, minding my own busines because staying fit is good. but i put my hand to my pocket and noticed my phone had somehow jumped out of my pocket and went swimming. so i retraced my steps to see where the phone was and found it laying in the sand as the waves washed up too close for comfort. i dried it off and took the battery out, shoved the thing in my pocket and ran back to where my parents would be waiting.
two days after this unfortunate event my phone is sitting in a bowl of rice, getting the moisture absorbed out of it. i have little hope of it working though. so for now i'm using my mums old phone..not too bad but takes some getting used to. and it's just til i get paid so i can buy myself a new one :) yay.
not the end of the world though so i'll live :)

holidays

so for my holidays i'm hoping for an adventure. but aren't we all?
my idea of adventure is something simple, like awesome swell, and sunny days where i can spend all my time exploring the beaches i already know so well. and hanging out with my friends, discussing the latest news and crazy guys trying to make a show of themselves.
these adventures may not happen as i like because the weather where i live is temperamental..and it rains. alot. but the rain just makes the sun more exciting. and nights spent with a blanket and hot chocolate with friends is just as much fun as laying on the beach..
so no matter what the weather brings i'll make it fun and have a laugh..life's too short to worry about the rain.

before i die. jenny downham

"a little bird moves a mountain of sand one grain at a time it picks up one grain every million years and when the mountain has been moved the bird puts it all back again and thats how long eternity is and thats a very long time to be dead" jenny downham

the girl in the book is a sixteen, soon-to-be-seventeen year old leukemia sufferer. she makes a list of things to do before she dies.
how can you put limits on a teenager how is about to die? you can't.
the book is heartbreaking and uplifting at once. even the hardest of readers will struggle not to tear up.
the book is pretty much inspirational and it made me realise that life's to short to dwell on the past.
get up. go out. be different.
is it by far my favourite book.

school

i'm in English doing some random blogging. i have no idea what i'm doing but i don't think that really matters..too bad if it does :)
i actually have never really read any other blogs before so i'm just going with the flow..something i do often.
and i'm listening to a great song which i'm not sure who sings it, but ipods and ear phones aren't allowed at school so i like to think i'm being quite sneaky.
in actual fact i'm not being sneaky, because every other person who has an ipod or music player just brings it to school and hides the ear phones, so here i am thinking i'm showing some extreme ninja-like sneak-skills when i'm really just like 50% of the students in this library.
there goes individuality.
